A Protective Custody Order (`Schutzhaftbefehl'), dated 16 November 1940 during WW2, made out by the SS for Hildegard Nandzik, who was arrested on suspicion of being a member of the Polish resistance movement, the SZP, and imprisoned in a concentration camp from which she was later released owing to lack of evidence against her.
Her German cousin Martha reportedly used her beauty which was instrumental in Hildegard's release when imprisoned by the Gestapo. This lot includes original photographs of cousins Hildegard (Polish) and Martha (German) in the Polish Women Voluntary Corps in 1938, along with a photograph of PC Michael Booker in Clapham, 1980. There are also two letters with originl stamps to an address in London, England.
