A fine William IV or early Victorian Samuel Hawkins Patent mahogany extending dining table, circa 1835; with ogee moulded edging above plain friezes; the rosewood winding handle operating the mechanism, the tube with applied plaque inscribed SAMUEL HAWKINS PATENTEE, BISHOPSGATE, LONDON; the lobed and foliate carved legs with brass caps and castors; 73cm high, 135cm wide, 128cm long closed, the three extra leaves adding 65 64 and 32cm to the length respectively
