A Meissen Marcolini period teapot, circa 1774-1814, the teapot of squat baluster form with satyr-form handle, the body decorated with a mythical face and polychrome bird side panels, adapted to a vase by restoration following loss of the spout and cover, painted maker's mark to base, 15.5cm high (at fault)
Apart from the restoration creating the vase (see description), the piece also shows a repair to the rim and evidence of restoration to the base of the handle, with a further firing crack to the interior behind the handle. The gilt highlights show rubbing throughout.
