A pair of Chinese porcelain famille rose vases, Canton (19th century), the baluster shaped vases extensively decorated with two vignettes depicting court figures, against a vivid yellow ground decorated with extensive scrolling foliate motifs, the shoulders decorated with chrysanthemum and lotus flower heads, the necks further decorated with two shaped reserves depicting flowers in vases, treasures, animals and fauna, unmarked, 38.5cm high (at fault) (2)
1- Section to the rim has been restored appearing as a filled chip, measuring approximately 4cm wide - please see images for clarification. To the inside of the neck extensive stained crazing is visible.
Both vases show signs of pitting and fritting throughout the body. Some glaze pooling is visible to the yellow ground appearing as burnt speckles. Some small areas of the blue decoration has deteriorated and has flaked off in small localised areas. Similarly, this has occurred to one vase with the rose colourway. Gilt wear to the rim and body can be seen. General surface wear and scratches commensurate with age.
