A worksplate LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, 7573, STRATFORD 1907 from a Great Eastern Railway Class M15 2-4-2T No 573, LNER F4 Class No 7573, built at Stratford in March 1907. Renumbered 7153 in 1947, it was allocated the BR number 67153 but withdrawn without this number being applied. Allocated to Melton Constable by January 1948 and later Stratford and March from where it was withdrawn on 30 July 1951 and cut up at Stratford Works. This engine was one of 15 F4s loaned to the Government during the 1939-45 War for hauling coastal defence units. It was loaned from July 1940 until January 1945 when it was armour plated and camouflaged and operated out of the War Department armoured unit at Longniddry near Edinburgh with the WD code letter K. It was fitted in 1947 with a brass plate, LNER, DURING THE WAR OF 1939/45 THIS LOCOMOTIVE WAS ARMOURED AND HAULED DEFENCE TRAINS ON THE COAST LINES, which is included in the Lot. Each cast brass, the worksplate 9"x5", the plaque 8"x3¾", the fronts repainted. (2) (Postage Band: C)
