Arthur Wilde Parsons - a fine maritime watercolour depicting a scene of a cutter and other sailing vessels in choppy seas / swell. Complete in contemporary gilt frame and gold mask, and signed and dated 1886 by artist to bottom left of painting. Born in Somerset in 1854, Arthur Wilde Parsons was an accomplished landscape painter and watercolourist. He exhibited in Britain and Vienna, and became an associate of the Royal Academy in 1897. He died in 1931.
