A Tibetan Gilt Bronze Ewer with Dragon Motifs and a 4 Character Mark to the Base.
A Tibetan bronze ewer richly adorned with gilt highlights and intricate relief decoration. The rounded body is cast in high relief with a dynamic five-clawed dragon chasing a flaming pearl amidst swirling clouds and waves, repeated on both sides. The spout is formed as a sinuous dragon emerging from the mouth of a mythological beast, mirrored in the sweeping handle shaped with confronting dragons. A small sculpted qilin sits atop the domed lid, which is surrounded by auspicious cloud scrolls. The vessel rests on a flared foot decorated with bands of raised beading and floral motifs. A pierced support connects the spout to the neck in the form of a stylized dragon. The base bears a four-character mark, possibly indicating the period or origin of the piece.
