AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY LONGCASE GRANDFATHER CLOCK BY WILLIAM NOON OF ASHBY, combination of oak, mahogany with ebonised inlaid detailing, the hood with swan neck pediment supported by two columns on either side of the glazed dial door; the dial hand painted with foliage & fruit decoration, the maker’s name W Noon, Ashby to the bottom. The Noon family were a multi-generation clock-making family with Thomas Noon being a fine craftsman of clocks in Ashby-De-La-Zouch from 1760 to around 1780 and was followed by his son William (1780-1820). This piece is in need of full restoration; but once give that care would make a fantastic time piece. 200cm tall x 52cm wide x 28cm deep.
