VICTORIAN ROSEWOOD AND MOTHER OF PEARL INLAID PORTABLE WRITING SLOPE, of typical form with flush fitting brass side handles, the front and top with line and dot inlays and shaped oblong escutcheon and cartouche, the interior with red velvet lined slope and single ink well, 5” (12.7cm) high, 15 ¾” x 9 ½” (40cm x 24.1cm)
C/R- one ink bottle missing, the ‘secret’ panel missing, later hinges, very minor chips and losses to the inlay, the back with repair to the veneer beneath the left hinge the top with small deep, dent to the left side, minor wear and scratching
