Religious interest - Impressive 19th century three tier brass Orthodox Christian candle stand of Gothic crown form, from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, the traditional site of the crucifixion, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The central holder is surrounded by three tiers of numerous smaller candle holders, the bottom tier inscribed with Greek text, raised upon a knopped stem with triform base and three paw feet, H 144cm x W 38cm

The vendor was an acquaintance of the restorer for the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and, upon refurbishment of the church, this candle stand was deemed surpless to requirements and was acquired by the vendor.
