A George III silkwork, oval, finely embroidered in various stitch techniques and with painted, watercolour detail, depicting a kneeling Biblical figure with his hands outstretched towards a pair of doves, 8¾ x 6¼in. (22.25 x 15.9cm.), the reverse inscribed 'Elisabeth Lindsay Claverhouse Dundee, aged 13 years in 1805, Finished - 1816', above a label for 'Gowans Carver & Gilder High Street Dundee.', in a modern plain gilt frame with stepped gilt slip. A few small spots to the sky where the silk has started to shatter. Colours a little mellowed and slightly faded from age. No losses or damage to stitching.
