A pair of large Japanese black lacquer circular boxes and covers, Hokkai Bako, 19th century, each gilt-decorated with aoi mon emblematic of the Tokugawa family, 48.5cm high
Minor small flakes and losses to the lacquer on the interior in places noticeably around the rims and edges, possible high quality restoration to the lacquer on the interior sides of the covers and inner flanges of the bases.
