A GWR cabside numberplate, 5098, from a 4073 Castle Class 4-6-0 built at Swindon in May 1946 and named CLIFFORD CASTLE after the 11th century castle overlooking the River Wye near Hay-on-Wye. At Exeter by January 1948, it spent most of its BR days at Laira before moving towards the end of its career to Newton Abbot, Carmarthen, Llanelly, Old Oak Common and Reading from where it was withdrawn on 15 June 1964 and sold for scrap to George Cohen at Morriston on 18 August 1964. Cast brass, ex loco condition. (Postage Band: N/A)
