1861 10c FRANKINGS TO GERMAN STATES; Pair with c1862 printed env. (small faults) to Bavaria franked 10c deep green (3 inc. a pair) tied or cancelled by dumb bar cancels and with Aachen transit and NY Packet ds on front and c1862 slightly reduced env. to Thorn (currently in Poland) Prussia franked 10c deep green & 5c deep brown with target cancels and former tied by "TONTOGANY" (O) cds endorsed "via Bremen" and so with a 20 Sept. "N. YORK/6/U.S. PKT." cds. but this was overstruck by the matching "12/BREM. PKT." cds (as the American Lloyd Co. had just ceased operations and the letter was re-routed to the North German Line's SS Hermann) and a fine blue "AMERICA/UBER BREMEN/FRANCO" mark on the front and an 8 Oct. arrival backstamp.
