Colonel H. W. Williams 'Some Reminiscences (1838-1918),' Original burgundy cloth with gilt titles, slight staining to corners, ex libris label, frontis of author, pp.112, vg, J. A. D. Bridger, Penzance, 1918. Williams was born in St Ives and records anecdotes of his life in which he worked on early railways in the South West, the London docks and returned to St Ives in the roll of Mayor. He offers much detail about his father's capture and imprisonment as a POW in Napoleonic France, remembers fireworks at St Ives for Victoria's Coronation, Pilchard fishing, Bodmin & Wadebridge Railway, Waterloo station, submarine cables; he worked on the Railway at Reading, wreck of the Khyber at Lands End 1905, Sennen Cove lifeboat and etc. A very good copy of a scarce work.
