RARE 'BUSINESS PAPERS' ("PAPIERS D'AFFAIRES") POSTAL RATE - COVER FROM 1 KILO PLUS BUNDLE; 4 Mar. 1866 E (slight faults and creasing clear of stamps, but also with closed tear behind 80c+20c) sent from Mont de Marson (sender's cachet on front) to Pau endorsed "Papiers d'Affaires" above the address and unsealed as per regulations (this wrapper would originally have contained a thick rolled bundle of business papers and would have been kept together with a narrow band of paper wrapped around the middle (hence the gaps in the manuscript address). It must have weighed between 1kg 10g and 1kg 20g because it was franked for the very rare 1f 2c rate (50c base for 0.5kg + 52c times 1c/10g for the further 520g; the 80c Red + 20c Blue + 1c Pair were all tied by fine to v. fine "MONT-DE-MARSON" cds's, and there are backstamps of Bayonne & Pau.
