Gwalior Star, for Maharajpoor 29th December 1843, (reverse engraved Lieut R.B. McLeod, 4th Reg Light Cavalry Lancers) VF, the hook replaced and now fitted with swivel ring suspender, 4 prong buckle strip and top pin to riband. £600-650 Note: The 4th Light Cavalry (Lancers) (part of the 4th Brigade of Cavalry under Brigadier Scott CB) were commanded by Major Mactier. General Sir Hugh Gough, in his despatch wrote of the battle "so desperate was the resistance, that very few of the defenders of this very strong position escaped..." and "I regret to say, that our loss has been very severe, infinitely beyond what I calculated on; indeed I did not do justice to the gallantry of my opponents.."
