TYPE VII CACHET ON S.S. "CARINTHIA" COVER TO NORTHERN IRELAND: 1939 (March) env. with original contents addressed to Londonderry franked GB 1½d tied by a fine example of the type VII cachet in violet and with violet boxed "POSTED ON BOARD/THE BRITISH/S.S. CARINTHIA/ON THE HIGH SEAS" cachet. The cruise liner "Carinthia" was the last vessel of her type to call at Tristan until the "Caronia" visited in January 1950. Some foxing but a scarce item. Also 1939 PPC to USA franked 1d tied by type VI cachet; and 1939 stampless printed P&O env. to UK cancelled by type VI cachet with hexagonal "T/15c." & "1½D/I.S./N." hs's surcharged 1d + ½d p.due stamps tied by Winchester cds's.
