Photographs, tie etc. . . . .Sergeant R. Chisholm was from Alnwick Northumberland and volunteered for aircrew starting his training on the 7th November 1943. He was posted to 57 Squadron operating the Avro Lancaster Bomber based at East Kirby. His first operation was on the 8th December 1944 the Heinbech Dam a flight of 5 hours. He returned on the 10th only to be recalled and was briefed for a third time on the 11th, when his aircraft was hit by Flak. Followed a steady flow of trips Merseburg, attacked by ME210's, Karlsruhre Grim hundreds fighters, Ladbergen Followed back by fighters shot up our drome. His last operation was to Oslo Fiord minelaying on the 24th April 1945. He remained with 57 Squadron until transferring to 49 Squadron in November 1945. His last flight with this Squadron on the 30th May 1946.
