MANUSCRIPT JOURNAL: PARIS & STRASBOURG, 1867: a lively and extensive manuscript journal penned by Victor Yorke RA, an officer employed by the British government on a tour of military inspection in France & Germany during summer of 1867: covers period July 5th-August 24th, approx 180pp of entries in ink in a lively and legible hand, illustrated with some 41 albumen-print photographs (mainly cdv & cabinet-card size), plus a number of ink and pencil sketches, largely describing the writer's time in Paris and Strasbourg with much social, historical and military detail: contained in period commonplace book of half-morocco over marbled boards, a little rubbed but generally in very good condition, 7 ALS over approx 40 sides from same writer to his parents, loosely inserted.
