A RATE BOOK: LOCAL HISTORY INTEREST. This 'Rate Book' for 'Whitechurch' (sic) is an MS volume and dated 1837-1840. The outer spine is incomplete but the binding is still 'hanging together' reasonably well. Mention is made of 'Fishpond', 'Morcombe' and 'Pen Inn'. Full of details of houses, inhabitants and their 'professions', farmsteads, public houses and the like. Comes with a Victorian brass bound Bible (front board nearly detached).
