1940 "EROS" TORPEDOED MAIL: 28 Mar. 1940 env. from Toronto to London with stamp washed off and a fine "SALVED FROM THE SEA" hs. The back flap secured with a small piece of G.P.O. tape. Note: the M.V. "Eros" was torpedoed on 7th June 1940 having left Montreal on the 30th May at the North West of Bloody Foreland, Ireland and beached at Tory Island.
