Oil on canvas relined many years ago, canvas remains tight, paint would benefit from a clean and has some fine craquelere scattered throughout, one vertical tear showing through the dead centre of the work just in front of the frigate where the smoke of the guns firing the salute shows, apparently unsigned, housed in an ornate gilt gesso scroll frame which is starting to dry out and crack, no labels or inscriptions verso.
