WW1 Military Medal to 11187 Pte S.E. Lightening 12/R. Scots, 1914 Star & bar to 11187 Pte S.E. Lightning 2/R. Scots, BWM & Victory Medal to 11187 Pte S.E. Lightning R. Scots, light contact marks, nearly very fine (note variation in surname). Sydney Lightning's MM was announced in the London Gazette dated 21st September 1916. The 12th Bn were heavily involved in the attack on the village of Longueval 14-17th July and the MM likely was for this action. He appears to have been wounded at the same time as his name appears on a massive Royal Scots list of casualties printed in the Midlothian Journal dated 9/9/16.
With copied MIC, LG and paper article, he landed France 31/8/14, issue of bar to Star not listed on MIC, discharged 31/3/17. (See photo) (½B)
