A VERY FINE & LARGE FRENCH CARVED OAK STAINED GLAZED HUNT SIDEBOARD CABINET, circa 1800s, with a carved pediment top over a row of three stained glass lead framed & hinged cabinet doors, with highly carved columns between each, showing leaves & acorns – inside are adjustable shelves, to the base a row of three highly carved doors – depicting a rabbit to the centre flanked by a bird on each side, with floral & foliage details, surrounded by further carved details & mounted with brass rings. To the centre are three drawers: each with a carved lion head handle flanked by birds. This piece is really stunning; the amount of work that went into its creation has stood the test of time as it is in excellent condition. Dimensions: 242.5cm tall x 193cm wide (at the top) x 57cm deep – at the centre point. Width at the front 183cm, and height to the top of the cabinets 105cm.
Provenance: The current owner’s grandaunt purchased it in France when she lived there, it was returned to Ireland on her passing and taken in by her family where it has remained since.
