A FIRST WORLD WAR CAUALTY PAIR TO THE SERVICE CORPS. A First World War pair comprising War Medal and Victory medal named to M2/119636 O PERKINS ASC. Private Osman Perkins was born in Saul, Gloucestershire and a resident of Hove, he served with the Service Corps, 562nd Mechanical Transport Company, and was attached to the XI Corps of Heavy Artillery, he died on the 26th October 1916 at the age of 38, he is buried at Bazentin-Le Petit Military Cemetery he left a wife Annie Perkins of 30 Newtown Rd, Hove. His headstone reads 'Till we meet again'. Bazentin Le Petit is one of the smaller cemeteries on the Somme with 168 graves. *CR Lacking ribbons and suspension rod loose on war medal.
