Irish Clare Militia Victorian Officer shako plate circa 1855-61.
Fine rare silvered crowned star mounted with title circlet; domed centre bearing VR cypher over shamrock spray. Horizontal loops. VGC 1793 raised at Clare Castle, Enniskillen; destined to become 3rd Bn. Royal Munster Fusiliers in 1881 however 26.4.1882 converted to artillery as 7th Bde, South Irish Division RA; redesignated Clare Artillery 1.7.1889.
