Former Bristol Zoo Gardens - WOW! Gorillas - (2011 Art Trail) - Rafiki (No.62) - an original full scale statue from the 2011 art trail that took place over the summer of 2011 in Bristol. This statue was a surprise 'final' addition to the trail, being Gorilla No.62 named 'Rafiki' and was displayed in London during the trail. It was then kept and displayed at Bristol Zoo Gardens for the years thereafter. Fibreglass construction, hand painted. Generally in excellent condition, some wear, fading and scuffing from display over the years. Retains metal mounting brackets to the legs. Measures approx: H165cm x W80cm x L150cm.
WOW! Gorillas was an art trail organised by Bristol Zoo in 2011 to celebrate the Zoo's 175th Birthday and to raise awareness for conservation. The trail saw 61 gorilla statues placed around Bristol, each decorated by a different artist. The Gorilla statues were based on Alfred, the famous Bristol Zoo gorilla.
