Longines “Weems” RAF Mk VIIA Wristwatch c.1940
In a working condition.
Very rare and completely original Longines Weems Mk VIIA RAF Air Force wristwatch c.1940.
[This lot is in a working/running condition. There is no provenance to the lot. There are no engravings to the watch]

These watches are extremely rare as only around 2,500 were issued to the RAF at the outbreak of hostilities during World War Two and many will have no doubt seen action during the early dark days of the Battle of Britain and beyond.

The Longines “Weems” watch was issued to pilots and navigators and features a moveable outer bezel which is set to the second’s hand to calculate longitude in order to aid navigation.

The watch takes its name from Lt.Cdr P.V. Weems who was a well-known aviator, navigator and instructor at the Naval Officer School at Annapolis, Maryland, in the U.S.A.
