A collection of approximately 230 standard-size Portsmouth postcards – plus 20 plan-backed images reproduced from postcards of Portsmouth views (see last photo) in two small boxes (1st photo). There are several nice photographic views, including three cards by the prolific Southsea photographer Stephen Cribb – two of flood scenes on the Common and one of a 1909 crowd scene at Fratton Park. Elsewhere, there are many views of Southsea seafront, nine postcards drawn by the artist of scenes of Old Portsmouth. Most of the cards are in reasonable condition or better, but some have the usual minor faults that you would expect with cards of this ager, such as minor creasing or edge knocks; and one has torn edges. Our 2nd and 3rd photos shows what we think are among the pick of the bunch – including a small photo of the Burtonia Supply Co shopfront in Commercial Road.
