SHIP WRECK MAIL - USA-GERMANY - SS LORRAINE MAILS DAMAGED IN TRAIN FIRE FRANCE: July 1910 New York to Munich small env. (edge faults from fire, stamps missing) originally carried to Le Havre by the SS Lorraine where the mails were transferred to a train. A fire broke out in the mail wagon which damaged the mails and a blue "Gerettet aus verbrannter / Amerikapost vom Dampfer / La LORRAINE via / HAVRE am 28.7.1910." hs was applied.
