An early 18th century double portrait snuff box, the silver inlaid tortoiseshell top with impressed horn portrait depicting Charles II within an Order of the Garter star, the double hinged top revealing mid length oval miniature portraits on ivory, one of a gentleman wearing a decoration and the other a lady wearing a pink gown, and the bottom section with gilt interior, the base engraved with the Fox family crest, length 82mm, depth 64mm, gross weight 92g. The portraits unidentified, possibly down the line of Sir Stephen Fox (1627-1716), royal administrator and courtier to King Charles II(?). Exemption ref. X5ZW3UF3
