A COLLECTION OF GREAT WAR MEDALS

sold for the benefit of the military charity ' Combat Stress', to include:
1914/15 Star, correctly impressed GS-12480 Pte R Nelson 6 - D. GDS
Victory Medal, correctly impressed GS-12480 Pte R Nelson 6 - D. GDS
Memorial Plaque - Robert Nelson, condition EF
and a Great War Pair to J.62785 S Watkinson Boy 1 RN, condition GVF

Robert Nelson was born in Crossmichael, Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbright.  

He landed in France on the 15th of June 1915 with the 6th Dragoon Guards. He was renumbered D/14208 and sadly killed in action on the 24th of March 1918. Robert is
remembered on the Pozieres Memorial. 

Sidney Watkinson was born in Liverpool in 1901; during the Great War, he served on HMS Powerful and HMS Renown.

By 1923 he had risen to the rank of Able Seaman. He purchased his discharge to shore in February 1924. He passed away in Liverpool on the 11th of December 1977.
