A worksplate, METROPOLITAN-VICKERS, 1955, from a 5ft 3ins gauge Irish diesel electric locomotive built for Coras Iompair Eireann (CIE), their A Class Nos A1-A60, all built in 1955. The whole class was rebuilt in 1970 with General Motors engines, re-classified as 001 Class in 1975 and renumbered 001-0060. In this form they ran until 1998. Cast aluminium, 17½"x5", ex loco condition. We believe this is a replacement plate, though from the condition it is obvious that it has been carried for some length of time. (Postage Band: B)
