Star lot: A very large original oil on canvas painting titled "Head V" dated 2003 by the British/Irish artist Samuel Walsh showing an abstracted minimalized depiction silhouette of a head with particularly interesting layering of the paint where the red background breaks through the impasto white.

Walsh has exhibited extensively in Ireland, Europe and the United States. In 1987, he founded the National Collection of Contemporary Drawing. His work is represented in public and private collections including the Arts Council of Ireland; Butler Gallery, Kilkenny, and Trinity College Dublin and Leinster House . He was awarded the Savills Art Prize at VUE Contemporary Art Fair, Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) Gallagher Gallery and many more internationally. His work, while hyper abstract, often draws on classical sources such as the Divine Comedy or Homer. He has an extensive auction sales history In the Many thousands.
