1. 1864 Admiralty Commission warrant to Thomas Sparke Thompson appointing him Rear Admiral in Her Majesty's Fleet Reserve List signed 15th June 1864, has been folded but otherwise in excellent condition. He was born in 1797, entered Navy 24/10/1811, promoted Lieut 5/10/24, Commander 4/10/32, Capt 9/11/46.
2. 1859 letter of thanks from Admiral Seymour, Victory in Portsmouth Harbour to Captain G.T. Gordon HMS Hannibal which reads:
"Sir,
On leaving the Command at Portsmouth I take occasion to express my sense of the advantage the public service has derived from your ability and experience in the management of the Steam Force at the Port.
Both in the Cormorant in the Pacific and in the Victory at this Port, I have had ample opportunities, when my Flag has been flying in these Ships under your Command, of judging of your merits etc." (R)
