1886 (Jan 26) Long cover with "SECHELE MINA" and a crocodile superbly printed in blue on the flap, addressed "To His Honor the Administrator, British Bechuanaland" and endorsed "p. Tr G.W Burton, D. Troop, B.B.P". The enclosed letter signed by Sechele, Chief of the Bakwenas, includes "on the 25th May last I handed over to Sir Charles Warren in the name of the Queen a certain portion of my country on the eastward boundary for the use of English settlers, that land is now being used by other tribes as grazing ground for their cattle &c, and some Boers are cutting wood. I have not sent to, nor interfered with them in any way as I wish to hear first from you, my friend, what steps I am to take or whether you will take any in the matter. I would greatly prefer that you would send yourself as I wish to be at peace with all my neighbours". A unique letter from Chief Sechele, carried by police patrol.
