SIGNED DESBOLS & WHEELER, GRAYS INN PASSAGE: A Regency rosewood cased striking and repeating bracket clock, painted convex Roman dial signed Desbois & Wheeler Grays Inn Passage, with strike/silent switch, pierced brass hands. Twin chain fusee movement with recoil escapement, pull repeat cord to right hand side of case, rack and snail strike, backplate also signed. The case of architectural form with brass inlay, pierced side frets and copper ring handles, raised on brass ball feet, the case is water-damaged. Label to door references Hollow Hill, Ditchingham 21/01/58. 51cm high x 29cm wide x 17cm deep.
Issue with the strike train - doesn't always release when hands are moved to the hour or when the repeat cord is pulled. Needs attention. Steel components have surface corrosion, dry oils in bearings, etc. Poor, with water damage, splitting, etc
