A large Victorian needlework sampler, inscribed 'Sarah Ann Walker Aged 12 Years 1867', with a short verse above a brick country house with smaller church, shepherdess, bird, fountain, urn and flower motifs, within a floral meander border, 24¼ x 25½in. (61.5 x 64.75cm.), in a period bird's eye maple frame. Ground panel has browned overall, and there is some muting to the colours throughout. The sampler is a little loose around the country house lower centre, which is causing this area to bag away from the glass a little. Would probably benefit from attention to the stretcher wedges to re-tension. Frame has some veneer loss to corners, the glass is modern.
