Registered 1927 to acquire the clifftop hotel in Funchal which had been opened in 1891. Guests have included General Batista, Winston Churchill, David Lloyd George, Gregory Peck and Karl von Habsburg. Although the hotel has changed hands several times it remains a luxurious 5 star resort. VF and first time seen at auction.
