A Continental patinated bronze model of the goddess Fame, late 19th century, portrayed nude and supported aloft on the breath of a Nimbus, holding a laurel sprig and a trumpet; on a cylindrical marmo nero Belgio plinth mounted with bronze cast figural reliefs of cavorting amorini, 85cm high overall Note: Fame (Pheme in Greek, Fama to the Romans) was a minor goddess, but well suited to being a pendant or companion piece to the Mercury Alighting, (after Giambologna), and the pair can often be found together.
