A large Chinese gouache painting, early to mid-20th century, depicting a noblewoman and attendant beside a lake in a fenced garden, unsigned, 63¾ x 30¾in. (162 x 78cm.), in a plain gold painted frame. Contact marks & damp spotting to surface of painting around the margins. Small scratches and damp spot marks to the building and clouds to right hand side, and also some to lighter areas elsewhere. Marked brown stain spots and a larger patch to the main figure's orange-red sleeves. Horizontal fold crease visible across the paper, approx. one-third up from bottom edge.
