A 40 bore flintlock boxlock pistol with spring bayonet, by W Jones, London, c 1840, 10” overall, turn off barrel 4” with starred muzzle for barrel key, 4” spring bayonet on right side released by a catch on the frame and Birmingham proofs; frame engraved with trophies and signed in oval panel; with raised pan, top safety which locks the frizzen, hidden trigger, bulbous rounded chequered butt with oval silver escutcheon and engraved German silver butt cap.
