A VICTORIAN AND LATER APOTHECARY CABINET. the open top section with four shelves centred by a reeded central bar and flanked by reeded pilasters, the lower section with an arrangement of forty labelled drawers flanked by reeded pilasters, raised on a later plinth base, 250cm wide, 224cm high, 38cm together with a collection of various apothecary bottles to include labelled examples

Provenance- recently removed from a chemists shop in Edinburgh.

CR - Piece shows various signs of adaptation and repairs, plinth base and shelf section appear to be later, two of the drawer handles are broken but present, right hand end of the lowest shelf is not present, back boards of shelves are loose, missing piece to left hand frieze, chest top appears to be later, right hand end of base is missing, drawer labels are rubbed and illegible in some cases
