(joined in 1904, served in India and France from September 1914, before transferring to Home Service after being wounded to the thigh by a sniper when taking his place in the trenches); a 1914-15 Star to "S2SR-03416 PTE. W. LOCKYER A.S.C"; 1914-18 War Medal to "18124 B.Q.M. SJT. M. CARROLL R.A." (died on 27th Jan 1918 after being murdered the Isle of Wight, when stationed at Golden Hill Fort); a Volunteer Long Service Medal to "1645 SERJT. P. W.
