BMW 635 CSI Highline Automatic 1989 offered for sale with a brand new MOT till January 2026, in Zinnober red (138) with natural (0200) leather interior. This is one of the last 6-series cars built and has had only 4 previous owners in 36 years, the current vendor having owned the vehicle since 2007. It has covered 206,000 miles with a comprehensively documented and detailed history plus the original brochure, early service history booklet and order build specification sheet.

The full original Highline Specification with additional BMW factory fitted optional extras include:

- Code 138 Zinnobar Red

- Code 200 Natural full leather interior covering electric sports seats, dashboard, headlining and all trim panels

- Code 401 Electric Slide and Tilt Sunroof

- Code 415 Rear Window blind

- Code 441 Highline Chrome trim kit

- Code 459 and 481 Electric Memory sports seats

- Code 498 Rear seat head restraints

- Code 500 Headlight wash-wipe

- Code 510 Interior Headlight Adjustment

- Code 530 Air Conditioning

- M Technic 1 Leather Steering Wheel

- Alloy wheels are later, high quality, after market copies of an original BMW low-profile, deep-dish wheel design (fitted in 2006)

This BMW has always been maintained on a NO EXPENSE spared basis and is genuinely one of the best for this age and mileage that you will find. The bodywork is in overall excellent condition with no obvious corrosion and having gone a recent expensive body overhaul including sills and floor pan. Both front wings are excellent and sound (a known failure point on these cars). Mechanically, the vehicle is superb despite still having the original engine, gearbox, and drivetrain. All fluids are regularly checked and changed (despite doing virtually no mileage). The gearbox Sport/Low ratio settings work as expected. On the road, the vendor states the BMW straight-6 driving experience is excellent with strong performance and accurate and tight steering and handling. The rear shocks were replaced in 2016 with uprated Bilstein B6 units and all brakes checked regularly, changing service items as needed, including new front brake hoses in June 2023.

The after-market alloys are starting to tarnish slightly in a few limited areas and there is some slight edge scuffing/kerb damage - most noticeable to the outer edge of the n/s/r wheel. These alloys are lower profile in comparison to the standard TRX shod wheels, so the car rides slightly lower than standard (no changes have been made to the standard suspension set up). This makes the driving experience more engaging without compromising ride quality. To further assist body rigidity and handling,, there is a quality aftermarket front strut brace fitted. 4x new Bridgestone Turanza tyres and a new Bosch battery were fitted in August 2022.

Interior wise, the BMW is stunning with all the leather in near perfect and with very limited creasing to the driver’s seat - the rear seats look like they have never been sat in. The electric seats work as expected apart from the driver’s seat headrest motor which runs but does not move the headrest up or down. Plus, there is a full set of quality, custom made, colour matched over-mats. All the standard instruments/bulbs work as expected with the only slight issue being that the illumination of the auto gearbox selection indicator (P-N-D etc) is a little dim (common problem). Some of the optional extras are inoperative – the interior manual headlight adjustment has at some point been disconnected; the headlight wash/wiper set up does not work (although all components are there), the factory fitted aircon needs re-gassing and a supplemental factory fitted alarm (with internal sensors) is u/s (although the central locking works perfectly).

In the boot, the car has a complete tool kit (couple of spanners are non-original) plus the original BMW first aid kit is still in the first-aid kit storage cubby hole – but not sure if it should be used, being some 30+ years old! There is also a factory optioned fire extinguisher fitted under the front of the driver’s seat (which appears to be correctly pressured according to the unit’s pressure gauge). The boot spring mechanism that holds the boot open is weak and you do need to prop the boot open if things need to be open for a period.

The BMW does have one last trick up its sleeve; a superb, professionally fitted after-market stereo system with electric aerial. The original stereo has been replaced (early in the cars history at a guess) with a CD head unit, nothing special there, but when coupled with upgraded front and rear speakers plus a superb carpeted sub-box in the boot which in turn has been directly ported (port is red LED illuminated) into the car behind the rear seat fold down arm rest, things really do go to another level. The sub-amp is 400W, fully configurable and drives a 1200W Infinity speaker.

Also included in the sale is an expensive custom made fitted outdoor car cover.
