Erich Miller-Hauenfels was an Austrian painter (portraitist, landscape painter, Viennese vedute) and etcher, brother of the painter Elfriede Miller-Hauenfels. Pupil of Anton Marussig at the Landeskunstschule in Graz, he studied at the Montanistische Hochschule in Leoben from 1909-1913 and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna under Ferdinand Schmutzer from 1913-1915, did military service from 1914-1918 and stayed in Italy and southern France several times. Member of the Künstlerhaus (1927; vice president 1965, honorary member 1970). Bombed out of studio 1944. prof. (1949). 1909-13 Studies at the Montanist College in Leoben. Pupil of Anton Marussig at the Graz Landeskunstschule, then moved to Vienna, where he studied with F. Schmutzer at the Academy in 1913/14 and from 1917. Lived and worked mostly in Italy and southern France from 1918. Received numerous awards. Participated in the exhibitions of the Künstlerhaus and the Venice Biennale 1950. Study trips to Greece, Belgium, Holland, France and Egypt.
