A 19th-century Anglo-Chinese black pappier mache quartetto of inter sliding side tables. The tops decorated with oriental scenes. On ring turned spindle supports and scroll sledge feet. 56 cm wide x 40 cm deep x 70 cm high
Condition report: The tops have all sunken to some extent see images with a ruler to show the extent of each sag/slump These tables were never sturdy even when new but these could do with the glue joints re-doing/ firming up, Some of the legs are a little bare of polish and the whole thing would benefit from a little bit of attention The surface of the lacquer tops is, of course, crazed as is to be expected. The only little bit of damage in real terms other than wear and tear loose joints etc is a small crack on one of the sledge feet terminating from one of the spindle sockets To sum up these tables are a little bit wobbly and could do with a little care for the ageing glue the main problem being the sag/dip to the tops, although I must say these dips don't stop the tables intersliding as they should. See the images I have taken to illustrate the issues I have mentioned I
