Papua New Guinea; 1942 cover Sangara to South Australia, marked "No Stamps Available" and given Field Post Office mark, also censor label and cachet. Contains carbon copy of a letter by Lilla Lashmar. Envelope has had written on front in red ballpoint ink "This Copy was the last letter sent by a New Guinea Martyr to her friend".
Lilla Lashmar was an Anglican missionary, killed by Japanese forces soon after this date, and she, along with others, is commemorated by the Martyrs Memorial School in Sangara.
