A pair of German WW2 Kriegsmarine Binoculars, stamped 'Dm-1v, 8 x 30, D.F. Artl, KRIEGSMARINE' and 'Huet Paris No 5517', in Kriegsmarine issue stitched black leather case bearing stamped insignia to top and further 'beh 1941' to rim, the case 30cm high. Note, lenses are mostly clear, rubber eyepieces are dry, cracked and delicate. Provenance; By family tradition, acquired in Germany during 1945 by Act. Major RM Norman Edward Ricketts who was serving as a ‘Staff Officer Naval Demolitions on the staff of V.A.C.B.N. Germany’ during the lead up to and in the aftermath of the German surrender. Major Ricketts later went on to build a successful career in civil aviation, becoming one of the founders of International Air Bahamas and he was awarded an OBE for services to aviation.
